Here’s to 2024!

In my last blog I stated that I couldn’t wait to see what 2024 has to bring. Well, crazy weather is what it has brought us so far!

About a week into the new year we had some serious wind and rain storms.  The winds at times got up to 46 mph!  With these winds we lost several trees.  Granted we have tons of trees surrounding us but, it’s still sad to see them toppled over.   They will become future firewood though.

Then, less than a week later, snow! LOTS of snow! We were very excited about getting snow honestly. We stay pretty stocked up on all necessities, etc.  So we’ve been doing exactly what I have felt like doing since the New Year began….hibernating.  Oh, I gave myself a manicure, colored my hair, took naps, blogged, did some cleaning and decorating here and there but, generally I’ve tried to just relax.  It’s been quite nice. The snow has lingered for over a week now but, should be gone in a few more days.  We haven’t received any mail or deliveries in over a week. It will probably feel like Christmas all over again!  The main roads are pretty clear at this point but, it’s the small back roads that are the issue.

Here are some pictures we have taken over the past week. I just think it’s so beautiful. 

The animals have felt zero discomfort from the cold and snow.  We have all the dog houses heated and the cats have their own heated room.  They are good.  They don’t seem to mind playing out in it either.

We are so happy that the basement is 95% complete.  We live there on these cold days and nights.  This stove is the best thing we could’ve done for this cabin!
