New Year, New Beginnings

New Year, New Beginnings

I hope everyone had a wonderful start to this New Year.

I spent most of the first week taking down all the Christmas decor and replacing it with some winter decor. It took us a hot minute taking everything down.  We bought all new “bug proof” bins so, I had to spend time reorganizing and labeling everything.  It was a lot of work but, it will be worth it next year.

I also spent some time purging closets and cabinets all through the cabin.  It felt good to purge and reorganize.

We took a huge hit on the 10th of January.  Just 5 days after celebrating her 13th birthday Teenie left us to go be with her brother Herc.  We asked her to hang on for fire weather, for the holidays and then, her 13th birthday.  She did as we asked of her.  We are devastated still.  She was such a trooper this past year.  She, too, had to learn how to navigate without her brother.  They were littermates and she only knew how to exist with him by her side.  She was a brave girl.  We gave her our undivided attention for a whole year.  It was beautiful.  Al and I had only been dating for a few months when these guys came into our lives.  We don’t know how to do it without them.  We are navigating through it slowly though.  The labs keep the void filled for moments throughout our days.

Speaking of labs, we finally got their “lab”oratory started.  We had some pretty cold weather coming and Al wanted to get it at least livable.  It is insulated and there are heating pads in both houses.  Once the trim is complete, then it will be stained and chinked to look just like the cabin.

We did get some snow!  It was only a dusting but, it was oh so pretty.

We will spend these winter months planning our garden for Spring, chopping firewood, finishing up the basement and relaxing and resting as much as possible.

I believe I am caught up! Yay!

Stay warm and well.

XO,

Elisa

  1. I did the same with our Christmas put away this year. So tired of everything just stuck in a box nilly willy! Was able to get everything organized and my boxes labeled too. And all stored in one spot (rather than split between the garage and attic) yay!!
I know we were all so sad to hear about Teenie but I know she’s happy and having fun with Herc! They can never be replaced but someday your heat may open to a new pup to love. Until then Honey & Bun are sure to give their love to you whenever you need them to.
Always love seeing the pictures of your beautiful home!

  2. Herc and Tennie were very cool 😎. Loved that we got to hug kiss and love on them as much as we did.
That Dawg house is fire 🔥. Awesome job Al.
I want to come up when it snows. ✌️❤️🇺🇸
