Harvesting is complete….where is my root cellar!

Hello!  It’s just me still trying to catch up on here.

Once we harvested all that we could before frost and canning season was nearing the end, we HAD to have somewhere to put all of it!  The root cellar was at the top of our to do list.  The room is split in two sections.  The rear of the room is where all foods are stored  and the front of the room houses all of our preservation equipment and tools. Al is currently working to finish the front area part off.  I’ll post updated photos once shelves, ceiling and walls have been completed and the door installed.  The hallway has been tiled and the bathroom only needs the shower door installed.    Al built this barndoor for the bathroom!

I’ve said this a gazillion times, I know, but I cannot wait for the basement to be finished.  We actually have a deadline now to help push us forward more quickly.  Our furniture arrives in March and well, it has to live somewhere!

Al also built us a much needed composter.  We hope to use some of it in our garden and raised beds this year.

In the midst of all the craziness of here, this little guy showed up.  He is from our neighbors house across the way. He comes and goes but, tends to hang out here a lot! Nothing like a Beagle’s bark to wake you up! We named him Bagel.  He’s very timid but, gets along great with Honey and Bun.

Between trips to Georgia and all the gardening I did manage to refinish a old hutch I bought.  BEFORE –  after – I wanted it finished so, I could decorate for Fall.  In all my craziness, I totally forgot to take pictures of my Fall decor!  Like what?  I only have a few to share with you. 🙁

The above hutch was a huge part of my decor as well as this barn quilt I painted.  And, unfortunately, these photos are all I could come up with!  I did do better with the Christmas decor which is coming up in my next post!

Thanks for reading!  Take a break if you need to.  🙂

XO,

Elisa
