Summer? We ready!

Summer? We ready!

Hello All and Welcome new followers!

First, as always, I wanted to give an update on the dogs, the cats and few new ones!

Herc has been doing so well!  He goes in today for his bloodwork.  If his white cells are at a good level then, he will have his final chemo treatment next week! Yay! Athena (Teenie) went for her annual check up earlier this week.  She has been losing weight lately (8 lbs. since her last annual check up) as she has been throwing up fairly regularly.  We were very concerned and we prepared for the worst.  Fortunately, her bloodwork came back good and she even had an unltrasound and it came back good as well!  Praise!  The Doctor thinks it may be acid reflux. So, we are giving her Pepcid AC.  So far no throw ups in two days.  Keeping our fingers crossed.  Here they are playing on the deck one evening.

Bun got a good brushing this past weekend.  As you can see, she really needed it! Honey stays busy keeping the property safe and secure.  Here she is burying a treat in the garden.  Maybe she thinks it will grow more treats there??

The cats are doing well.  We bought a little fan for their room to circulate the air. When temps are 80 – 90 degrees outside it feels about 20 degrees hotter inside.  The fan has really made a difference.

For our new ones …..  We found this little baby crossing the driveway.  It’s a snapping turtle and he was about as big as a dinner plate.  He was huge!  We’ve come to realize everything is bigger at the farm!

We now have cows on the farm.  You read right, cows!  A neighbor approached us asking if we would be willing to lease the front two parcels of land on the property.  It’s about 7.5 acres.  It’s on a slant where it is difficult to mow so, now the cows can mow it!  Win, win!

The garden is coming along well.  We harvested all the radishes this past weekend.  I made a few jars of pickled radishes with most of them. We have tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions of every kind, pumpkins, watermelon, celery, carrots, lettuce, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, beans, a variety of peppers and brussel sprouts growing.  Our corn and squash (with the exception of two) did not come up so, we are going to try and replant those. All in all, the garden is looking full!   Spot loves to be out in the garden when we are hoeing. We are making some organic insecticide to use this weekend.  We noticed a few pests that need to go away.

Spring cleaning is about completed and just before summer gets here.  I did my cleaning in sections and I took my time.  I moved a few things, declutter and then, decorated for Memorial Day – Labor Day.  I made quite a few things this year for my decor. I realized pretty quickly that I didn’t have a lot of decorations because this time last year we barely had a fireplace.  This year there is much more real estate to cover!   So, I made a wreath for the back door using an old flag I had kept and a small wreath for the pantry door. I painted some wooden blocks and added some stars. I painted some mason jars and added some floral with some rag balls I also made. I made some clay stars for my little tree on the mantel.  Wooden beads, of course.    Oh, and I made these cute little tags.  The rag balls and tags are suppose to be bowl fillers but, I preferred

using them differently this year. Most of these crafts I found on Pinterest.

I love these pictures.  They have a personal meaning to me.  The pictures are of Kennesaw Mountain’s Field of Flags.  Someone I went to high school with, who is no longer with us, was instrumental in getting this project kick started and I graduated with the photographer.

Here’s how everything came together.  If you know me, I’ll move and change things up all summer long.  I can’t help myself.
