<\/a>The larger furniture was brought inside the cabin. Did I mentioned it rained a lot during the move? Oh the mud!!\u00a0 ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/13dogfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/016c4f3e3d266084fc0610d8174573fc93390ddd81.jpg\")
<\/a>\u00a0![\"\"](\"https:\/\/13dogfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/0120b6eb1f8221aeffc20e30cf0d9fd896448aa961.jpg\")
<\/a>\u00a0Honey and Bun were inspecting.<\/p>\nI have spent the last month pulling boxes from the outbuilding and unpacking\/decorating as shelves were stained and added to closets and the pantry. Check out my staining process!\u00a0\u00a0 For about the first three weeks our countertops consisted of plywood, we only had one sink up and running and it was located in the laundry room\u00a0 A lot of deliveries and installations were stalled due to the pandemic.\u00a0 We have stayed busy every day since arriving here!\u00a0 We now have all sinks up and running!\u00a0 Yay, for granite installation.\u00a0 The dogs are tolerating one another.\u00a0 The labs really don’t care about Herc and Teenie.\u00a0 They are more curious than anything.\u00a0 Herc is ok until Teenie gets upset, then of course he has to join in.\u00a0 They will see Honey or Bun occasionally through the main floor windows and bark but, even that is started to get old.\u00a0 We cooked out one night and Bun found her way onto the back porch where there is no gate because it’s about three feet off the ground, and well, that was a fiasco when she walked past the front windows!<\/p>\n We hope to get the fenced in yard up in June if the weather permits.\u00a0 We have lots of grading to do before the actual fence can be built. Herc and Teenie will then have more freedom to hang outside.\u00a0 That will be a game changer as well.<\/p>\n The interior and exterior staining of the cabin is now complete.\u00a0 All that remains is to add the chinking.\u00a0 The first month we were here I only left once.\u00a0 Al usually goes to town for supplies and food.\u00a0 I have returned to Georgia twice since the move.\u00a0 Once to move my daughter and then, Mother’s Day weekend.\u00a0 \u00a0I’m coming down next weekend to bring Evie up for a short visit.\u00a0 She’ll be our first guest!<\/p>\n To date our county has no case of Covid-19.\u00a0 We do not take that lightly.\u00a0 We still mask up and glove up when we leave the farm.\u00a0 I do not want to be the one that brings it here.\u00a0 So, we are being uber safe.<\/p>\n I’ve been doing lots of cooking and baking.\u00a0 I am so enjoying my new kitchen!\u00a0 It’s truly my dream kitchen.\u00a0 Planned from the start.\u00a0 From the floating shelves, to my cafe oven, to my walk in pantry. Decorating is going slow as I tend to put things out and a few days later I realize it looks better over there or in that room or maybe I think I don’t need to put it out at all.\u00a0 My motto has been, “It looks great but, it’s subject to change!” I’m enjoying it though.\u00a0 I’ve been using so many heirlooms and antiques and just things that spark a memory of someone or some place or thing.\u00a0 It’s just the best feeling.\u00a0 We walk to the mailbox daily. (I am sure the deliveries guys are hating on us right about now.) It gives us time with the labs We planted our garden last weekend!\u00a0 It’s huge. I have missed the luxuries of manicures, pedicures and hair salons.\u00a0 But, fortunately I have always done my own nails.\u00a0 I would just go to the salon to get them painted.\u00a0 My hair, well, I’ve colored it myself once so far.\u00a0 Probably do that once more then, hopefully head back to the salon.\u00a0 I need a cut and I am not doing that on my own!<\/p>\n Crazy, crazy times we are living in.\u00a0 I do try and take time each day to just enjoy the stillness and peacefulness of this place.\u00a0 I sit on the porch and love on the labs and just listen to the birds.\u00a0 Nothing like it.\u00a0 Although moving here was no where near how we imagined it would be, with every day that passes we are creating our beautiful home.\u00a0\u00a0 P. Knobs and pulls on all the cabinets are being added today.\u00a0 It’s not easy opening drawers without pulls!\u00a0 We are still waiting on our new bed.\u00a0 Manufacturing was shut down for over a month but, they are open now.\u00a0 We hope to have it by June. Thank goodness for the guest bed.<\/p>\n<\/a>In time I think it will get easier for all of them.\u00a0 We installed a gate on the porch so Honey and Bun cannot prance across the front of the prow.\u00a0 We also brought Honey’s house up from the barn.\u00a0 She uses it when temps drop.\u00a0 It’s well insulated.\u00a0 Don’t let Honey fool you.\u00a0 She may be small but, she is fierce.\u00a0 So far this dog has brought me two little gifts. i.e. Squirrels!\u00a0 I hate it!\u00a0 Like, thanks but, no thanks!<\/a> <\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a> <\/a> <\/a> <\/a> <\/a> <\/a> I have also spent a little down time working on a puzzle.\u00a0 I find them relaxing.\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0 I also made some curtains for the kitchen window.\u00a0 I’m waiting on some hooks to arrive and once I hang them I will post a pic!<\/p>\n<\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n<\/a> we stop at the barn on the way to see the cats.\u00a0We initially thought one cat might be pregnant so Al installed a camera to keep a better eye on her but, to our surprise she had already had them.\u00a0 There are 5, we think, and they are about 6 weeks old.\u00a0 I couldn’t believe it.\u00a0 They stay very well hidden. <\/a> <\/a>We are hoping it’s the same cat we thought might be pregnant.\u00a0 We really aren’t sure.\u00a0 Right now there are only three female cats that we see on a regular basis.\u00a0 One calico made her way up to the cabin!\u00a0<\/a><\/a> <\/a> She tends to come up when their bowl is empty.\u00a0 I guess she’s trying to tell us to go feed her.\u00a0 She also made her way around the front prow one early morning.\u00a0 I thought Herc and Teenie were going to break a window!\u00a0 And, I can’t forget to mention all the beautiful flowers we pick along the way.\u00a0<\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n<\/a> <\/a> <\/a>Oh, and this is Bubba. Ain’t he scary?\u00a0<\/a> \u00a0 Praying we have a good harvest.\u00a0 I may be hauling veggies to Georgia and spreading some love.\u00a0 I do plan on canning a bunch. I bought a vacuum sealer which has been wonderful.\u00a0 And, we also purchased a deep freezer for storage as well.\u00a0 If you saw our food storage you’d probably call us hoarders but, when you live out in the middle of nowhere it makes sense to have a good back up of necessities.\u00a0 Going to town takes half a day!<\/p>\n<\/a> \u00a0<\/a>\u00a0Honey looks like she sees another squirrel in this picture.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a> <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
