Pets and outdoor projects
Hello All! It’s been a few weeks since my last post! I spent almost two weeks in Georgia this month and it usually takes me another week to catch up with things once I return home. Busy, busy!
First off, and the most important news on this post, Hercules had his second chemo treatment on Friday, the 9th. As far as we can tell he is handling it like a champ. Two more to go. It’s a slow process but, I know we are making progress. He’s doing an amazing job navigating and even jumping! There are times we have to remind him that he only has three legs. I’m so glad he is adjusting so well.
Teenie is doing good as well. She will go in for her annual check up next month. She has noticeably dropped some weight but, we are trying not to worry too much. She is acting completely normal. Still eating everything in sight. We are hoping for the best. Lord knows I can’t handle another sick dog right now. The labs are doing wonderful. I took this pic of Honey through the bathroom window the other day. I couldn’t tell if she was alive or dead! They manage to keep us up at least a few nights a week protecting the land. The cats are thriving. They bring home at least one kill a day. Here they are just chilling on the porch.
I don’t think Spot has missed a meal, or a mouse.
I love this picture of Tag.
We had our first hummingbird show up a few days ago. We are going to have to get creative on where to put these feeders. With everything I’ve read cats can and do catch them. I would be heartbroken if they got one. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed.
No new projects to report. We are currently building a mud/cat room in the outbuilding. The cats don’t seem to be too affected by not having the freedom to roam throughout the outbuilding. We are making their new place very cozy. I can’t wait to show you the finished project in the next few weeks. And, since the cats are no longer running free in the outbuilding, we managed to get it organized. Y’all, this was huge. The outbuilding is huge! Over the past year things have just been thrown in there or placed somewhere because there was no other place to put it. i.e. no organization whatsoever! The cats knocked things over and well, it was a mess. It looks so good now. We still need to hang peg boards and build some shelves for tools and such but, both vehicles can now park inside!
For now, the warmer temps and longer days are giving Al much needed time to grade and mow. We’ve had a good bit of rain lately so the driveway needed some serious attention. Al worked on it all weekend, as well as, mowed the barn field.
We will be planting our garden next weekend. We have one day this week that will dip below freezing. Hopefully, that will be the last one. All our little seedlings are growing tall and strong. They are just about ready for transplanting. The grow lights did an amazing job!
While in Georgia Al managed to get our shower door installed! I was so happy to see that it had been done! We’ve been using a painters tarp since we moved here. This door was the last big project for inside the cabin, minus the basement, of course.
A lot of time will be spent outside during Spring and Summer. However, if you know me, you know I have a list of rainy day projects to tackle when we can’t be outdoors. There is always something to do! I planted some flowers in pots around the porch this weekend, as well as, my little flower bed down at the barn. This week I hope to pick back up on chinking the front and back of the cabin.
Right now, I am currently taking down the Easter decor. I have visitors coming in a few weeks. I wanted them to see the cabin with some everyday decor. Whatever that is! I think this cabin has been decorated for some sort of holiday since we moved in! I created a few new decorations to complete the every day (Spring) look. I also made some bead garland for a jar that sits on the dining table.
This is my newest craft!!! I plan on making many more of these in the near future! Soon enough I’ll be decorating for Memorial Day through Labor Day. All things red, white and blue! Maybe a red, white and blue bead garland! Someone stop me. 🙂
Oh, remember a few posts back I mentioned changing up the ledge in our great room? It is finally complete and we love it! Tell me what you think!
Next up, our garden and a much needed stair railing for the loft.
Thanks so much for reading!
XO,
Elisa
