Christmas – Part 2

Christmas – Part 2

Hello everyone!  I am excited to say that this post will almost make me current!  I have one, ok, maybe two, more after this one!  Finally.  It’s been fun reminiscing.  I’ve enjoyed going through all the past photos figuring out which ones to share.  Blogging is fun and enjoyable but, it can get stressful trying to find the right photos for what you are trying to convey.  Heck, just hoping you even HAVE the right photo to post!  I always have to remember when doing any task to TAKE A BEFORE PHOTO!  I get so wrapped up in just starting the project that I sometimes forget to do that.

Okay, on with Christmas…..It was definitely different this year to say the least.  Not only was there Covid but, we were no longer in Georgia.  I also had a brand new Grandbaby to see!  I drove down to Georgia a week before Christmas to spend some time with my girls and grand baby.  Al came down a few days later and we had a quick Christmas breakfast (tradition) and opened our gifts from one another.  It wasn’t the big celebration that we were accustomed to but, it was oh so sweet.  Al had to do a same day turn around.  We can’t leave the dogs inside the cabin for too long without a break.  So, he arrived super early and stayed about 4 hours and then returned to the cabin.  I came home the following day.

Al then drove back to Georgia on Christmas Eve to pick up my youngest daughter.  She wanted to spend Christmas here with us, how could I deny that?  She was only able to stay a few days but, I was just so happy to have her here with us on Christmas day.  We awoke early Christmas morning and could not believe our eyes.  We had about 6 inches of snow fall throughout the night!  It was going to be a white Christmas for us!  The snow was incredibly beautiful.    I was truly like a child on Christmas morning.  Excited beyond measure.  Al made a huge fire and we cooked a big breakfast, then we opened up our presents.  It was surreal really.  The snow in abundance, the roaring fire and some of my family here to enjoy it with us.  We took our poinsettia drinks out to the hot tub later in the day. I mean, who could resist?  The snow was still coming down and well, how often do you get to soak in a hot tub with huge snow flakes pouring all around you?  Dream. Come. True. It was definitely one for the books.  We cooked a turkey and all the fixings for a early dinner.  The best day ever.

On to New Years….we had my sister, Edla and her husband Jerry come visit us on New Years Eve.  We brought in the new year, ate our turnip greens and black eyed peas,   went antiquing and just relaxed in front of a fire.  Not only did we enjoy their company, Herc and Teenie did as well.  Their stay was very memorable. I was so happy to have so many family members come visit us over the holidays.  It meant the world to us.

I can only hope and pray that this new year, 2021, brings each one of us health, happiness and that this pandemic, if not over, then lessens a bit, so that we may have more of our freedoms back.  That we may enjoy doing the things we love again,  seeing the ones we love, shopping and going about our days “like it used to be”.   If we can bring anything positive out of this pandemic let us find a new appreciation of the people we love the most, the freedom to breathe fresh air and the giving and receiving of hugs and kisses freely.  Never take a moment for granted.

Preceding this post will be Part 3 and I will share with you all my Christmas Decor.  Christmas is my favorite holiday for decorating so, I won’t apologize for the overload of pictures!

As always, thanks for reading!

Stay safe,

Elisa
