Christmas – Part I

Christmas – Part I

Hello everyone!

Quit update on Hercules….He is doing very well!  He is moving about as if he has four legs instead of three.  Honestly, he is so confident sometimes it makes me nervous.  We are still waiting for bloodwork to determine what type of bone cancer he had.  Once that is determined then, the amount of chemo he will require will be determined. Right now, we are expecting another three rounds of it.  Your continued prayer for him are so appreciated!

December was such a busy and full month for us!  I know it is typically the same for most everyone.  So, I decided to split this blog into two parts.

The first half of December we had our first snow! God, it is so beautiful here when it is covered in snow.  I just love it.  It feels like a fairytale sitting by a roasting fire with a snow covered porch.    I must admit Winter may just be my favorite season now!!

We do have to pay special attention to our outdoor fur babies.  We purchased heated water bowls for them, otherwise their water freezes in the frigid temperatures.  Who would have thought?    The kittens get time in front of the heater every morning before breakfast.   They also have heated pads to sleep on in their cat-tainer.  Honey also has a heated pad in her dog house. Bun, on the other hand, refused one. She just prefers lots of hay.  She is so hardcore.

The biggest celebration happened on December 6th!!!  We celebrated the birth of my grand daughter, Maebry Elizabeth!  The most precious little being.  Isn’t she just the cutest!

I haven’t crossed stitched in years but, I wanted to make her a keepsake ornament.  I made her mama one just like it when she was born.  🙂

Since moving to Tennessee I have been traveling to Georgia about every five to six weeks.  I have had doctor appointments, dentist appointments and even hair appointments.  It’s worked out really well.  I usually stay with Megan, my oldest daughter.  She is Maebry’s momma.  So, I get to spend some much needed time with the both of them and I can help out where I can when there.  It’s a win win.

We had a good bit of visitors this month, too!  Lys (Al’s daughter), her husband Jared and their precious daughter Ary came to visit us for the first time.  We spent evenings by the fire, we made some homemade crafts, enjoyed some good food and spent some time outdoors.   We walked some of the property.  We had to show them just how big the trees get here!       Ary had her first tractor ride  and she even took a spin on the excavator!  She loved the kittens and labs, too!  Herc and Teenie only came out to visit when Ary was in bed for the night.  They are a little too rough to be around small children.  We exchanged gifts and celebrated our Christmas together a little early.  We were so happy they came to visit.

The only project in December that we were able to complete was one we had not even planned on doing! That is beginning to sound familiar.  Al and I were sitting at the bar in the kitchen having lunch one day and the idea hit us.  Let’s rock the backsplash in the kitchen and add a pot filler!  So, we did just that.  It turned out so beautiful! What a difference, huh?

Here’s a before …….            Now, after…….

I also managed to bake my first ever pecan pies!  They were delish thanks to a sweet friends’ recipe!

Next up, visit to Georgia, Christmas Decor, Christmas Day and New Years celebrations!

Thanks for reading!  Let me know what you think of the backsplash!

Stay safe,

Elisa
