Winds and Wings
It was a short weekend for us. Unfortunately it rained a good part of our time there so, not much work was accomplished. The leaves have just begun to change and there was a little chill in the air. I love this time of year.
Saturday brought very high winds. We seem to get them often up on the plateau. I mean, they are strong! The flag mounted on the cabin even blew off. We walked over to retrieve it and do more measuring. Also, we discussed where to put furniture, if there is room here or there and such. Just planning in my head kind of stuff. Like I said, it is always changing. It was decided that the upper loft area would not work well for my office. It’s just too small now that the HVAC work has been done. So, I’ll be back downstairs in the basement next to Al’s office. I think it’s probably best this way in the long run. I don’t know how well I would do climbing a ladder at 80. Let’s be real.
Between rain showers we got out and walked the driveway and talked about landscaping ideas. We stopped at the barn to feed the cats. We have four now. A calico which appears to be a little bit bigger than the others. The other three are two black and white and one gray tabby. They are definitely juveniles, and if I had to guess, all from the same litter. For now, it appears they are all female as far as I can tell. They are also much more friendlier than the calico. She is very skittish.
Not sure what Honey saw up this tree but, she was definitely focused. We could not see anything but, I suspect something was there.
Also, are these persimmons? Al tried one and said they were extremely tart. What does one do with persimmons?
The cabin sprouted wings since our last trip. Hopefully the roof will come soon! By the way, we’ve been trying to come up with a name for the cabin. Any ideas are welcome!
Al will return this upcoming weekend to hopefully get some grading in and, of course, give the dogs some company. It is suppose to dip down to 29 degree, too. So, I am glad he’ll be there to let them inside at night to sleep in the warmth of the RV. Honey seems quite comfortable letting herself in these days. We are still working on Bun’s confidence in that area.
More to come!
