Colorful Leaves and Pumpkins Galore!
What’s your favorite season? Fall is my most favorite. I love the changing colors of the leaves, the crisp morning air and the excitement of Thanksgiving and Christmas on the horizon. It arrived mid-September at the farm this past year. I’m referring the decorations . Although the weather was chilly as well. I think a lot of folks decorated a little earlier this past year due to the pandemic. I think everyone needed some change, something to look forward to, a little pick me up. I normally don’t begin to decorate until mid October but, I couldn’t wait to see how it would all look! My favorite season and, next to Christmas, my favorite time to decorate. I was in a new place with all sorts of new decorations. I had some decorations I had purchased in 2019 and had yet to use them! So, it was a bit like Christmas unpacking them! The year before everything was packed up in boxes ready for the big move. We didn’t decorate at all. Not even for Christmas. So, to say I was a little anxious to start decorating would be an understatement.
I started with the loft area. I didn’t do much. We hardly ever go up there but, with a few potential guests possibly visiting over the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to add a splash of Fall colors and make it cozy.
The ledge that goes across our front windows can be enjoyed from the loft area as well.
This ledge is so fun to decorate. It has so much potential. In all honesty having a new place to decorate can be a bit daunting for me. I normally place items in spots and then, as crazy as it sounds, I let them speak to me for a few days. I will know by then if it belongs there or somewhere else. When we first moved in I drove Al crazy because I kept switching things around and he could never find anything! I think the fireplace turned out just as I had imagined it would. Maybe even better.
I apparently only took videos of the coffee and kitchen areas.
Here’s a few pictures of some random areas and my dining room table.
I also switched out my barn quilt from a Fall leaf to a Thanksgiving turkey in November.
I have a pumpkin quilt that I put up the week of Halloween.
The front door turned out beautifully. You can’t put any decorations outside without anchoring them down. The wind on the plateau can get really strong. I found this little DIY on Instagram and they worked perfectly on our outdoor furniture. Here’s the recipe! Concrete Pumpkins
Prior to decorating, our chandelier finally showed up. Yes, another item that took forever to get here! I was so happy to get it hung up!
We somehow managed to make the pantry door and get it installed during the holidays. We ended up using the same staining technique that we used on the oven vent.
It brings the whole kitchen together.
Oh, and Al and I voted for the first time as Tennessee residents!!! The firehouse where we voted.
Thanks for reading! Let me know if you make the concrete pumpkins!
Next up, Christmas decor, family guests and my sweet grand baby’s arrival!!!
Be safe,
Elisa
